Since Raw Hope projects began in 2019...

  • Over 1300 bunnies have been distributed through Binza Raw Hope projects
  • Rabbit breeding program includes a WV veterinarian to ensure families can care for the animals
  • S4T (Savings for Transformation) group members combine business classes & bunnies to increase household income & provide food sources
  • 4000 malnourished children have received direct support via therapeutic food supplements, access to healthcare & community cooking and nutrition training

Breeding programs have been running in DRC for many years. Their success engages the whole community, enabling families to participate together whilst teaching children valuable lessons for their future.

ALICE BAFIALA MUTOMBO

Child malnutrition is a key program initiative of the Binza Raw Hope project.

Child malnutrition is more than a lack of food, it's a social, economic and health issue. In Binza, food insecurity is compounded by the effects of climate change, violence & forced displacement.

So, in 2019 when the Raw Hope project began, the community agreed that the only way to truly tackle the problem was from multiple angles. Families needed practical & sustainable tools to immediately survive but also build a future.

Enter, the humble bunny rabbit or... 1300 of them!

In Canada, supporters give to CHR (Childhood Rescue) projects through Raw Hope.

No one knows a community like the leaders and elders! This programme is a brilliant example of the power of listening and designing solutions with those that know it best.

Choosing breeding programmes for Binza Raw Hope projects mean the community was investing in:

  • Ongoing food producing opportunities
  • Sustainable income producing opportunities
  • Access to varied nutrition sources for children
  • Easy, affordable start up solutions with fast results
  • Simple integration for members of business and savings groups

At just 17yrs old, Rosette was determined to get an education & build her future. She joined a Raw Hope S4T group & received some bunnies. The result - she's thriving at school & in business, recently purchasing her first ever school uniform! Rosette now pays her own school fees, can purchase educational supplies and is helping to supplement her family with income. Give a girl like Rosette a few rabbits & she can change her world!

Raw Hope supporters, be encouraged!

In Binza, children are surviving malnutrition, families are recovering, learning new skills & developing their own income ventures and the community is building towards a sustainable future.

And that's the impact you're helping make possible.

From 1300 bunnies and counting,

THANK YOU!

Democratic Republic of Congo

The Democratic Republic of Congo is a country of vast natural wealth. Its natural resources include diamonds, gold, cobalt and oil. Yet these riches have brought suffering to its people. The decades-long armed violence between government and various rebel forces nicknamed “Africa’s world war” has crippled the country.

  • Rebel groups have taken over vast amounts of land, starving civilians and crippling the nation's economy
  • Sexual violence is widespread
  • Measles and Ebola outbreaks have hit impoverished Congolese communities
